Years 5 and 6 Take on Outdoor Adventure at Dinton

29th Sep 2026

Years 5 and 6 pupils swapped the classroom for the great outdoors for an action-packed day of watersports and outdoor adventure at Dinton Activity Centre.

Year 5 headed to Dinton for the morning session, followed by Year 6 in the afternoon, giving both year groups the opportunity to experience some of the activities available as part of life in the Senior School at Holme Grange.

Led by qualified instructors, pupils threw themselves into the activities with enthusiasm, working together, taking on new challenges and, inevitably, getting a little wet in the process!

The day was about much more than having fun. Each activity encouraged pupils to develop teamwork, communication, confidence, resilience and independence, while experiencing a different kind of challenge beyond the classroom.

It also offered pupils a taste of the breadth of opportunities available as they progress through Holme Grange. Our Senior School co-curricular programme includes a wide range of alternative sports and outdoor pursuits, encouraging pupils to try something new, discover different interests and challenge themselves.

Mr Charlie Gingell, Director of Boys’ Sport at Holme Grange, said:

“It was fantastic to see our Years 5 and 6 pupils embracing the activities with such enthusiasm. Days like this give pupils the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, work together and discover what they are capable of. It also gives them a real taste of some of the wider sporting and outdoor opportunities they can look forward to as they move through Holme Grange.”

From taking on new challenges to supporting one another, there were plenty of smiles, laughter and memorable moments throughout the day.

Experiences beyond the classroom are an important part of life at Holme Grange, helping pupils build confidence, strengthen friendships and develop skills that extend far beyond the activity itself.
