On Wednesday 22nd February the U11 hockey team went to Bradfield College to play in the U11 Berkshire In2Hockey tournament. They faced local schools from all over Berkshire in a busy day of matches. After a fantastic morning where the girls really did play some of their best Hockey the girls finished top of their group, letting in only one goal. This put them through to the cup round in the afternoon, they first met The Abbey and beat them 5-0, they then drew with Thorngrove and St Andrews. This put them through to the semi-final where they faced St Pirans’ A team. Holme Grange went into the lead but due to an error in our defending end St Pirans won a short corner and managed to equalise. The game finished in a 1-1 draw and meant the result would be decided by penalty shuttles, best of three. Hollie, Maddie S and Molly took our 3 penalties and Erin was our Goalie. We won 3-2 on penalties and Erin was superb, making her presence known to the opposition. This put us through to the final where we faced St Andrews again. The game was close and despite having most of the possession we couldn’t quite finish with a goal. This again meant the decision would be made by penalties. The same four girls stood up again, spurred on by their previous success. They were brilliant and Erin was equally as incredible in goal, making some important saves, we went on to win 2-0. This is a fantastic achievement for all involved and they should be so proud of themselves. They now go on to represent the Berkshire schools in the South Region round on 14th March. We wish them the best of luck.
