Eaton Grange: Years 7–11

At Holme Grange, we have a proven history of teaching our senior pupils with outstanding results. We provide challenge, strive to inspire, develop confidence, offer opportunities, and realise the potential in every child. In Years 7–11, we create a familiar and nurturing environment that produces confident individuals who are strong, independent learners, ready to take on the world.

Years 7 & 8

The transition to Year 7 is one of the biggest in a child’s school life. We work with pupils during their first Senior School year to help them adapt to life as a senior. From Years 7 – 11, the pupil’s welfare is at the heart of everything we do as we know that if young people are content in their environment they will thrive and achieve their potential. Pupils are exposed to leadership opportunities and challenges; creativity and problem solving all of which pave the way for continued success, benefiting our pupils throughout their years in school and beyond.

In Years 7 and 8 the focus is on developing a strong work ethic which will stand them in good stead as they embark on their secondary school journey to GCSE. An ability to work independently and master study skills ensure that pupils are well prepared for the opportunities that senior school brings.

Year 9

Year 9 is a year of exploration and discovery, as pupils experience a wide range of subjects to help them make informed GCSE choices in the Spring Term. This is a time for pupils to experiment, find their passions, and identify subjects where they are most likely to excel.

Pupils receive clear guidelines on effort grades, which are regularly discussed with their subject teachers, and are encouraged to self-assess their performance in class.

In addition to academic subjects, our tailored Personal, Social, Health, Cultural, and Citizenship syllabus encompasses topics such as religion and spirituality, health and social issues, citizenship, financial awareness, and careers.

Years 10 & 11

When selecting GCSE options, pupils are guided to consider subjects that align with their strengths, interests, and future career aspirations. Our dedicated staff ensure that pupils achieve their full potential through personalised support, monitoring, and motivation.

Leadership skills are developed as pupils take on key responsibilities in the school, such as Head of School or Heads of Houses. These roles foster self-worth, confidence, and a strong sense of moral responsibility.

Careers

A Holme Grange education equips pupils with a deep understanding of themselves and the world of work.
