Little Grange (Nursery) & Reception
The Holme Grange curriculum for these years is based on the revised Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (September 2021). This framework focuses on seven areas of learning covered by the early learning goals:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Sport, ICT and Music are taught to all pupils by specialist teachers.
Each class has a weekly library session, and your child will have 1:1 reading sessions between 3 and 5 times a week. Each pupil has a reading record, allowing parents and teachers to work together to build on skills learned at school.
Years 1 & 2
In these year groups, we build on the learning goals from Little Grange and Reception, developing them into specific subjects. Some subjects are taught using a cross-curricular approach. Teachers work with pupils to set individual targets, focusing on both academic skills and personal development.
French classes start from Year 2 and are taught by a specialist teacher.
Homework is designed to support, reinforce and extend learning from school. It is achievable yet challenging. During the holidays, pupils complete a project or research activity linked to topics they will study in the next term.
