Little Grange

As children become more self-assured, our experienced staff facilitate enhanced learning experiences which extend children’s development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children are given the opportunity to think creatively, make choices, and follow their own initiative to become confident learners, with regular opportunities to spend time with the reception children to aid a seamless transition.

Children attend Little Grange for a minimum of five morning or five afternoon sessions to experience a careful blend of adult-directed and child-initiated activities. Children benefit from learning in our spacious, nursery with free-flow opportunity to access our adjacent all-weather outdoor areas.

Little Grange teachers ensure that Literacy and Mathematics are daily priorities. Many children learn all the alphabet sounds and begin to blend them to read words by the end of their pre-school year ensuring they are well prepared for Reception.

Little Grange children have their own library where they can borrow a book to share at home and they visit the School’s Sports Hall weekly, for gymnastic, games and musical movement lessons. Children also benefit from weekly ICT and Music lessons led by specialist School staff. Forest School is a timetabled weekly activity as is cookery which takes place within the Little Grange nursery.

Children come to the Main School for a delicious, nutritionally balanced lunch in the dining room where good table manners are encouraged.

Positive behaviour, confidence and independence are nurtured in all areas, enabling children to move happily into Reception. Little Grange children participate in the Christmas production performed on the stage with the Pre Prep children.
