At Holme Grange we nurture children’s spirit through our Inspiring Change programme as they learn to appreciate what others do for them and develop a desire to give something back’. Whether it be through the Rotokids programme supporting those in our local community, sponsored walks for Cancer Research, cake sales for other charities or where we look wider afield and consider those less fortunate than ourselves. Our children have not only contributed but they are Inspiring Change. We sponsor three pupils in Our Lady of Nazareth School in Nairobi and as a community, this year have raised in excess of £8,800!
“All the teachers are very good, professional and very enthusiastic about their topic”
The children have the responsibility for researching and choosing each year’s charity program. Each year, a charitable organisation is chosen and the pupils organise events to raise both awareness and money. They aim to choose a diverse range of charities based both in the UK and abroad, and the majority of those are for children and are therefore of particular relevance to our pupils. Over the past few years they have raised substantial sums each term through activities including cake sales, a sponsored walk (which takes place annually), Wear own clothes to School Day, as well as sponsored reading, maths and spelling events.
Holme Grange’s commitment to fundraising and raising awareness of those less fortunate is closely linked to our PSHE curriculum. We believe that this is an intrinsic part of each child’s educational development and enables them to play a more developed role within the wider community.
