Year 2 pupils recently took part in an exciting and immersive Great Fire of London workshop, transforming their learning into a memorable, hands-on experience.
Through drama and storytelling, pupils were transported back to 1666, where they explored the key events of the Great Fire and brought history to life by acting out important moments from the period. The workshop encouraged pupils to step into character, understand historical perspectives and deepen their knowledge in a way that was both engaging and meaningful.
We were delighted to welcome the performers from Rainbow Productions Theatre, whose dynamic approach captivated the children and demonstrated how powerful learning can be when it is interactive and immersive. Each pupil had the opportunity to present their lines and play their part, doing so with growing confidence, enthusiasm and pride. It was wonderful to see pupils supporting one another and embracing the challenge of performing in front of their peers.
At Holme Grange, we are proud to offer a broad and varied approach to learning, recognising that children thrive when lessons extend beyond the traditional classroom. Experiences such as this allow pupils to develop confidence, communication skills and creativity, while also deepening their understanding of the curriculum.
This workshop was a fantastic example of how history can be brought to life and how learning, when delivered in imaginative ways, can inspire curiosity, confidence and a genuine love of learning.
