This week we were visited by Colin Stuart, who is a renowned space writer and presenter. It was interesting for the pupils to hear about how he got into his career. He had some great advice, especially “Say yes to everything and figure it out after. Don’t be scared – you need to take the opportunities when you can, and you never know what may come of it. It’s all about finding the sweet spot between doing what you need to do to be successful and paying the bills.”

Three of our Year 8 pupils, Amber, Faye and Aurelia explained, “In Today’s astronomy talk we experienced what it would be like to live on Mars and the conditions that you would have to be put through. It was a very engaging talk that immediately captured the audience to know more about the subject.
We learnt about some of the hardships that the astronauts have to face, such as drinking water, exercising and changing clothes. Learning about space in an amusing way was extremely useful because we now know what happens in interspace and how it happens. We all thoroughly enjoyed the talk and feel that we took a lot away from the experience; the slideshow and videos really helped our understanding.”
All in all two great inspirational talks that engaged pupils from Year 3 to Year 11.
