Holme Grange School Pupils Bring Joy to Elderly Residents at WADE

1st Oct 2021

As part of International Day of Elderly People, on Friday 1st October students from Holme Grange School visited The Wokingham and District Association for the Elderly (WADE).

Students socialised and enjoyed eating lunch with the residents, during which, Kaitlyn and Nikita (two Prep students) presented an impromptu musical performance and brought joy and laughter to the centre. One resident said, “I am so impressed with the children’s confidence, this has made me so happy”. Pupils not only brought joy but also letters from Year 3 children who wrote endearing messages and drew pictures.

For many residents, this was the first time they had received visitors since the start of the pandemic. The centre manager thanked pupils and staff for visiting “This is the first time we have allowed external people in and it has been such a wonderful afternoon, thank you”.

Meanwhile, at Holme Grange School, staff and students raised money for the WADE centre by taking part in a non-uniform School day. The School raised £703.19 for the centre which cares for the Elderly in Wokingham and surrounding areas.
