Girls U11A Hockey Team do us proud at the Wellington Tournament

Our U11A team played in the Wellington Hockey tournament on Wednesday  and finished in second place.

The U11 Hockey girls had an extremely successful day in the annual Wellington Hockey tournament. They faced five teams in the group stages losing to Thomas’s Clapham, drawing against Portsmouth Grammar and beating Hoe Bridge, Thomas’s Fulham and Wellingborough. Despite the early loss, they came back and battled hard in the hot conditions, to finish 2nd in our group.

This put us through to the semi-final where we met Downsend, after 12 hot minutes in the beating sun it was 0-0, and the game was to be decided by penalty shuttles. After 6 shuttles apiece both teams were tied and it went to sudden death. The other team missed and we managed to find the back of the net which meant we won 7-6 and put us into the final.

We then met Thomas’s Clapham for a second time and despite digging deep and fighting to the end the girls lost the final match

Well done to all of the girls for finishing in 2nd place out of 11 schools, a fantastic achievement.
