This week, our Year 2 parents were invited to step into the future and experience what lies ahead as their children prepare for the exciting transition into Year 3.
The morning was designed to celebrate learning, strengthen home–school connections and help both pupils and parents feel confident about the next stage of the journey. Parents joined their children in the Year 2 classroom, where pupils proudly shared their work during a Big Write session. This provided families with a valuable insight into the learning that has shaped the term so far, while giving pupils the opportunity to confidently showcase their progress and achievements.
The experience continued with a Great Fire of London quiz, encouraging shared learning and meaningful conversation between parents and children. Parents were also invited to explore the Year 3 classrooms, where they gained a clear understanding of the learning environment, expectations and opportunities that await. Hearing directly from Year 3 pupils and teachers offered an authentic insight into life in Year 3, highlighting the growing independence, responsibility and enthusiasm that characterise this stage of school life.
The visit concluded with families coming together to enjoy a traditional Holme Grange school lunch. Year 2 pupils proved themselves to be exemplary hosts, clearing plates, ensuring parents were looked after and demonstrating just how much confidence and responsibility they have already developed.
Events such as this play an important role in supporting smooth transitions, ensuring pupils feel excited and prepared for the next phase of their education, while also helping parents feel informed and reassured. It was a celebration of how far our pupils have come, a glimpse of what lies ahead and a reminder that the journey is always better when we walk it together.
