Payment of Fees

All fees are paid termly in advance. The Fees are inclusive of Personal Accident Insurance Scheme lunches, drinks – milk or squash, text books (Excluding GCSE) and exercise books  and some stationery. Extras include outings, Music, Trinity College London (Speech and Drama) and Learning Support lessons etc. Fees are due on or before the first day of term. Parents can pay the fees and extras by cheque or directly into the School bank account, details of which are noted on the bill. One full term’s notice is required for cancellation of all Optional Lessons and must be served in writing before the first day of the term before lessons are to cease. Notice will be acknowledged in writing. Parents can also opt to pay by Direct Debit whereby a year’s total fees (not extras) are divided into ten months with payment on the first day of each month (September to June inclusive) with no interest charged. Any queries concerning fees/ extras should be addressed to the Finance Office.

Government Early Years Free Entitlement (EYFE)

Children aged 3 and 4 are entitled to access 15 hours of EYFE a week for up to 38 weeks of the year. Your child qualifies for this free entitlement from the academic term following their 3rdbirthday until the end of the term of your child’s 5th birthday. It may be applied in both Little Grange and Reception years.

The EYFE at Holme Grange School is offered between the hours of 09.00-12.00 or 13.00-16.00 within a package of integrated early learning and care subject to availability. This is offered over the full school week, Monday to Friday inclusive, over our academic year of 34 weeks.

The EYFE is shown without any monetary value on termly fee invoices. Any additional services which the parents may opt for are charged in addition.

Within Wokingham Borough there are a variety of EY providers offering the free entitlement. Some may offer the free entitlement only, without access to any additional services, others offer it over fewer hours of the week. Parents are encouraged to choose a service provider which best meets their needs. Holme Grange School offers term time sessions to fit in with the free entitlement over a 34 week academic year only.

Accelerated Learning Centre Charges

Pupils requiring support will be offered an ALC termly package. This will cover lessons and all the additional support within school that we offer and will include the following: 


1-1 lessons, delivered by a trained dyslexia/literacy/numeracy specialist, with a OCR Diploma Level 5 minimum qualification. The lessons will be delivered weekly, at an agreed timetabled slot, avoiding any core/favourite subjects. If a lesson is missed due to a school event, we will do our best to make it up. 

ALC Plan tailored directly at individual needs. This will be drafted termly, in collaboration with parents, teachers and the pupil. We can work on literacy, numeracy, social and emotional needs, English as an Additional Language. If appropriate, we are able to implement recommendations from Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. ALC Plans will include the term’s targets, long-term targets, classroom recommendations and strengths and areas of need for each pupil. This will be available to all class teachers, so that strategies can be transferred to the class situation. 

Termly review meetings for parents with the pupil’s ALC teacher, where progress and next targets are discussed. 

Liaison between ALC and Teaching staff 

Liaison/information-sharing with class teachers/support staff/Heads of School as necessary. Information regarding individual needs, including their ALC Plan is available to teaching staff and is updated regularly. We deliver INSET to teaching staff, to advise on classroom strategies. 

Regular meetings with Heads of School to discuss pupil progress. 

ALC Surgeries, where teaching staff and ALC can discuss ALC pupils and needs. These are timetabled regularly. 

INSET on different aspects of special educational needs is provided by ALC as needed. 

Support for Pupils throughout the school year 

Support with study skills, revision planning in advance of school examinations. 

Assessment for and monitoring of Access Arrangements in examinations. 

Support with organisation and homework as required. 

Support during examinations – providing additional, quiet rooms, access to ALC staff and trained readers/scribes as required. We also provide equipment, such as reader pens, laptops for exam and training for pupils in how to use their exam concessions. 

Support for pupils’ social and emotional needs as required. Pupils all have access the SNUG Sensory Room and ALC staff. We prioritise pupils in immediate need of this facility and react as soon as we can. 

Support for Parents 

Open door policy to parents. We are always here to provide support to parents or pupils as required. 

If an outside professional report is sought, we are happy to recommend suitable professionals, facilitate the assessment in school, attend the feedback meetings if requested, so that immediate recommendations can be implemented. We have links with Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. 

Administration for professional reports. 

Provide all necessary administration for outside professional assessments, including coordinating arrangements, questionnaires, implementing initial recommendations and then writing summaries with focus on classroom recommendations for teaching staff. 

This is a comprehensive list of services that ALC offer. Clearly, not all pupils will require all of these services all of the time, but we pride ourselves on offering whatever is needed, when it is needed, in a safe and nurturing environment. 

The termly charge for this package depends on the duration of the ALC lessons your child receives weekly. This currently stands at £202.50 per term for each group of half hour sessions. 

Please note that the ALC package is charged a term in advance and that one term’s notice is required if a pupil is to stop ALC.
