Scholar Programme

To be awarded a scholarship at Holme Grange is a great privilege. It recognises hard work and commitment to academic achievement and / or excellence in a particular area of the curriculum.

Once awarded a scholarship the person will be invited to participate in a programme designed to stimulate and challenge them in their particular area of interest.

Scholars are expected to:

  • Attend one after school activity per week
  • Enter at least one competition per term
  • Prepare one assembly per term
  • Prepare a book report every term
  • Participate in a termly visit or workshop
  • Attend the end of year Scholars’ Dinner

National Association for Able Children

Our academic scholars lead by example and show other pupils the joy of learning. They can run their own club in an area of interest to them in the spring and summer term.

They have the opportunity to enter academic competitions like Maths challenge, National Cypher Challenge, Crest Award and Creative Writing.

Our sports scholars lead by example and encourage their year group to get involved with sport. They will attend sports practice and play for the school teams.

They have the opportunity to enter inter-school, county and national competitions. On these occasions they are expected to help sports staff with the logistics of the event.

They are looked to as leaders within the school sports community.

Our arts scholars lead by example and encourage their year group to get involved with art. They will attend art clubs and activities.

They have the opportunity to enter inter-school, county and national competitions. On these occasions they are expected to help staff with the logistics of the event.

They are looked to as leaders within the school arts community.

Our music scholars lead by example and encourage their year group to get involved with music. They will attend music practice and play in the school orchestra and choirs.

They have the opportunity to enter inter-school, county and national competitions. On these occasions they are expected to help staff with the logistics of the event.

They are looked to as leaders within the school music community.

Our drama scholars lead by example and encourage their year group to get involved with performing arts. They will attend clubs and activities and any school castings.

They have the opportunity to enter inter-school,local and national competitions. On these occasions they are expected to help staff with the logistics of the event.

They are looked to as leaders within the school drama community.
