Our students have returned from an extraordinary trip to Japan, filled with cultural discovery, new friendships and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
The adventure began with a warm welcome from our partner school, Tsuda Gakuen High School. Students took part in lessons, joined after-school clubs and introduced themselves confidently in Japanese. From calligraphy and table tennis to exchanging gifts and sharing aspects of British culture, strong bonds were formed. The visit concluded with a heartfelt farewell party, and the group even featured on Japanese television for their efforts to engage with the language and local customs.
Cultural exploration was at the heart of the trip. Students visited Senso Ji Temple, dressed in traditional kimono for a tea ceremony, explored the Samurai and Ninja Museum and collected goshuin stamps at sacred sites such as Ise Jingu.
Travelling across Tokyo and Kyoto, highlights included seeing the iconic Mt Fuji, riding the Shinkansen bullet train and visiting the Ghibli store and Pokémon Centre. Along the way, they sampled sakura ice cream, experienced robot-served meals and enjoyed spectacular views from Tokyo Skytree.
From school life to sightseeing, this remarkable journey was a celebration of culture, curiosity and global connection that left a lasting impression on all who took part.
