We are incredibly proud of Year 11 student Alfie who has had a phenomenal year representing Reading Rowing Club.
At the British Rowing Championships, Alfie competed in the highly competitive J15 single scull category. Out of 60 competitors, he placed 8th in the 900m time trial, progressed to the A/B semi-finals and went on to win the B Final. His combined final times placed him 5th overall in the country, which is a remarkable achievement.
Earlier in the season, Alfie secured 3rd place at the Inter Regional Finals and 5th at the National Championships (also among 60 top 16-year-old boys), both in single sculls which is widely regarded as one of the most demanding disciplines in rowing.
In October, Alfie was selected to row for the prestigious Leander Club following a rigorous 150km trial week. Competing alongside rowers aged 17 and 18, he went on to win gold medals in both the pair and quad events.
Most recently, Alfie was invited to the GB J16 Rowing Camp, an elite programme open only to the top 20 boys and girls in the country. His selection is a testament to his talent, determination and commitment to the sport.
Congratulations Alfie. We look forward to seeing what you achieve next.
