Accelerated Learning Centre
All students have individual needs, which puts personalised learning at the heart of our teaching and learning. Holme Grange is committed to providing an equality of challenge for all students and an inspiring education for life.
Children with special needs may at times require a more specialised programme than the majority of children of the same age, in part or in all of their school work. These children may need extra help because of a range of needs, such as: thinking and understanding; physical or sensory difficulties; emotional difficulties; speech and language difficulties or how they relate to and behave with other people.
For those requiring specialist support they will be offered an ALC termly package, cost will depend on the duration of the weekly ALC lesson. The support package will include:
- 1-1 lessons
- ALC Plan
- Termly review meetings
- Regular meetings with Heads of School
- ALC Surgeries
- Access arrangements for examinations
- Support with organisation and homework
- Open door policy to parents
- Administrative liaison with outside professionals
The Accelerated Learning Centre (ALC) is staffed by a team of specialist dyslexia tutors with OCR/RSA Diploma or Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties, in addition to their teaching qualifications. Holme Grange employs an experienced and qualified SENCO.
