During their recent trip to Kraków, our students embarked on a deeply meaningful journey through history.
Over several days, they explored sites of cultural and historical importance, including the atmospheric Old Town, the vibrant Kazimierz district (the historic Jewish Quarter) and the harrowing grounds of Auschwitz-Birkenau. A particularly impactful visit was to the Galicia Jewish Museum, where students joined a guided tour and had the rare opportunity to meet a relative of a Holocaust survivor. This personal encounter shed light on the lasting intergenerational impact of the Holocaust, making history feel immediate and human.
At Auschwitz-Birkenau, students were given time and space to reflect quietly on the scale of the atrocities committed and the importance of remembrance. The visit offered a sobering yet essential reminder of the consequences of prejudice, hatred and silence.
This powerful educational experience not only deepened their understanding of the Holocaust but also encouraged them to consider the role we each play in standing against intolerance and protecting historical memory.
