On 24th October, the schooling community of Holme Grange School embarked on a BIG fundraising activity for the children of Our Lady of Nazareth School in Kenya. Staff and pupils participated in The Big Walk, 5 miles through Gorrick Woods and afterwards enjoyed a charity House Cake Sale.

Over the last few years, Holme Grange School has being paying for a number of children at Our Lady of Nazareth School to continue their education by going to High School. Living in the Mukuru slums of Nairobi, many children who are lucky enough to go to school, normally exit the education system at the end of primary school.
After our successful trip to Kenya in July, we are hoping to bring two of our scholars who we are sponsoring, together with an OLN teacher and possibly two OLN pupils to Holme Grange in the Summer of 2019.
The event was a great success and so far we have raised £4992 of our £5000 target. Mrs Robinson reminded everyone of the Nelson Mandella quote, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
