Holme Grange, now a day school, was founded in 1945 when 40 boys were transferred from Eaton House School, London. Until 1974 the School was a typical Preparatory School of the day: boarding for boys only, ages 7-13. Holme Grange became fully co-educational in 1975, when the last boarders left.
In 1973, the Pre-Prep was opened allowing children to be educated from four through to 13 and in 1996, with the introduction of a nursery, children from the age of three were admitted.
The School is a charitable trust administered by a Board of Governors, many of whom are either past or present parents with a range of specialist knowledge.
Holme Grange occupies a large country mansion, which is Grade II listed, built in 1883 by the architect Norman Shaw.
In recent years many new extensions have been added including a sports hall, science laboratory and an ICT Suite.
In 1998 a large new wing was added which includes seven classrooms and girls' changing facilities. An extension to that building was completed in 2001, providing two further classrooms and an Art and Design Centre.
An All-Weather Pitch, with the latest shock absorbing Astro design,
was opened in October 2004.
2005 saw Holme Grange celebrate 60 years, with its Diamond Anniversary.
Little Grange Nursery was extended and re-opened, by Andrew MacKay MP, to mark the 60th Anniversary. |
