After a countdown of sleeps and days at Nursery we finally set off for the farm armed with packed lunches and waterproofs, nothing was going to dampen our spirits.
Farmer John welcomed us to his farm and showed us where to leave our backpacks. To lessen the rumbling stomachs the children had refreshments before setting off to meet the animals first hand.
We were able to hold rabbits and guinea pigs however one of the rabbits had planned an escape and was soon hopping round the barn and out onto the farm! Much to everyone's relief Mrs Fifield returned with the rabbit safely in her arms.
One group then set off to bottle feed the lambs whilst the other group went to meet the inhabitants laden with a large bucket of animal feed. The children were soon busy feeding ducks, lamas, pigs, goats, hens and donkeys which they really enjoyed.
A trip to the play area to run off some energy soon turned into a dash for the barn as the heavens opened and the rain fell splattering on the ground to form muddy puddles! The children decided that it would be a good time to open their backpacks and have lunch.
After lunch, there was a lamb feeding for the second group and a tractor trailer ride for everybody. After a final play on some indoor slides, enjoyed not only by the children but also the staff, we headed back to School. |
