Ten members of Year 6 took part in this year's Eurotalk Junior Language Challenge semi-final at Sherfield School. The competition had started in May when Year 5 started to learn Polish. Ten pupils gained enough points to go through to the semi-final and spent their summer holidays learning Mandarin Chinese.
Thirty children from the Meridian TV region took part in the semi-final (one of ten around the country) and the three top scorers would go through to the final. After a very tense and exciting competition, two Holme Grange pupils managed to make it through to the national final which will take place at Olympia at the Languages Show on 2nd November 2007. They now have just a few weeks to learn Lugandan, the language spoken in Uganda. Good luck to you both! |
