In August, 44 children enjoyed a week of thrills and spills at a PGL adventure holiday in the Ardeche Gorge in southern France.

Three days were spent undertaking a descent of the gorge negotiating many of the treacherous white water rapids en route. There was time for the children to dip their toes into the warm waters and enjoy a refreshing swim. Top of the thrills was an opportunity to do a spot of rock jumping from a great height into the foaming waters. To ride the rapids the children didn't always need a canoe and 'turtling', whereby the children would ride the rapids on their backs, proved great fun.

The Ardeche Gorge has many caves and the children had the exciting opportunity of exploring a cave in real commando style. Having descended into a deep dark hole on a seemingly precarious rope, the children scrambled through tunnels only two feet high with only their miner's lamp to guide them. The eerie stillness and darkness of the cave proved a very memorable experience.

Out of the dark and into the sun, the children enjoyed the high ropes, mountain biking, archery and a whole host of other fun games and activities.

Great fun was had by all.
