Love was in the air for the Reception children as they prepared for a wedding as part of their topic on Festivals and Celebrations. The children had spent the week learning about traditions from all cultures and had completed a variety of activities including making jewellery and writing invitations.
As the big day approached, a cake was made (and iced!), outfits were planned and flowers skilfully constructed from tissue paper. Finally, the time for the ceremony came. The Groom held his nerve and waited patiently in the Oak Hall, with the rest of the Pre-Prep children, for the Bride's arrival.
The ceremony began with the congregation singing a popular wedding hymn, Mister Noah Built an Ark, and then progressed on to the exchanging of vows. The Best Man managed not to lose the rings and by the time the register was signed there was not a dry eye in the house. As the service ended, with a slight variation on the traditional kiss, the happy couple made their way back down the aisle and the guests finally had the opportunity to throw their confetti.
After the necessary delay for taking photos, the wedding party moved into the dining room for the cutting of the cake and of course the day finished with a toast being made to the Bride and Groom using the very best orange squash!
