The Reverend Dr Richard Warden, of St James Church Finchampstead, gave the address at this year's Harvest Festival Service. With a cast of Samuel the Sheep, and a succession of other, magically produced, puppets, he said that we had much to be thankful for in the abundance of things on the planet and that 'an attitude of gratitude' should prevail. Pupils, parents, grandparents and staff found Reverend Warden's talk both thought provoking and highly entertaining.
The service also featured many musical works, new to the congregation, skilfully performed by the School choral and instrumental groups.
Following the Service at School the prefects took all the produce, generously donated by the children and their parents, to The Wokingham and District Association for the Elderly. They are shown with just a fraction of the fresh produce. The total cache of tins, biscuits, fresh fruit and packets of all shapes, sizes and flavours filled a whole van. The food was used to cook some of the lunches the centre provides each day, as well as providing goody bags for the members of WADE to enjoy. |
