Eleven of our best musicians attended this enjoyable but demanding day of music making. The main orchestra, which featured over ten schools, played Jupiter, from The Planets, and The Bare Necessities. Both were fun pieces to perform but there were many musical obstacles to overcome before a successful performance could be achieved. Each section of the orchestra, wind, brass and strings had their own special piece. The woodwind’s piece, for example, was the theme from Titanic and was extreme in its difficulty. However, with perseverance and concentration, the performers managed to do justice to this advanced arrangement.
The concert was of a good standard and we all felt that the day had been rewarding and that we had been tested as musicians. |
