Little Grange - Action at the Farm

Twenty nine very excited Little Grange children climbed aboard the coach and set off on their outing to The Children's Action Farm.

The weather was kind to us, so with sunhats and backpacks packed full to the brim, with lunch time treats, we arrived at the farm. "Can we have our lunch now?” the children asked. However, the sight of a bouncy castle soon took their minds off food! A number of bounces later we divided into three groups and set off to explore the farm. We saw piglets and pigs, owls, lambs, huge rabbits, cows, ponies and guinea pigs. There was a red tractor to climb on and a big green thresher to climb up and slide down.

The children were able to bottle feed the lambs and ride a horse - a new experience for many of them. Pig and piglet races had the children eagerly and loudly cheering on their pig or piglet. Quite an amazing sight to behold!

Lunch time came and we were able to sit at picnic tables in the sunshine. The packed lunches all looked delicious and were eagerly devoured.

After lunch, the children all had a ride on a trailer pulled by a large tractor and they were also able to drive their own tractors round a special track. The teachers didn't miss the chance to 'help' one or two of the children who had yet to master the steering technique!

There were some fantastic play areas and the children made good use of these. As our visit came to an end, one of the farm workers appeared with a snake and the braver members of the group were able to stroke it.

Twenty nine very tired but happy children climbed aboard the coach and before long the majority was fast asleep.
