A visit to the Roman Town of Verulamium, in St Albans, brought to life our study of everyday life in Roman Britain. The children visited an authentic hypocaust where they examined how this early form of heating worked and saw the original mosaic floor.
After lunch at the Inn on the Park, the children were treated to an absorbing Roman artefact handling session. The museum was divided into four discovery areas, seeing real objects, finding out about Roman food, playing a Roman game and listening to Roman sounds. Having visited the museum, Year 4 completed a fun worksheet. Many thanks to the parent helpers who ensured a great day out was had by all.
