To mark the occasion of Holme Grange’s 60th Anniversary this year’s Fete was opened by ex-pupil Tom Burrows, who this season is playing for Hampshire C.C.C. This complemented the sports theme chosen by the pupils for the Fete.
The Swing Band entertained us with their catchy tunes and set the scene for an afternoon of fun, on what proved to be one of the hottest afternoons of the year.
There were refreshments to suit all tastes from freshly spun candy floss, to hot dogs and burgers. In the Beer Tent, chilled cans of beer and glasses of Pimms refreshed the parched mouths of the wilting parents whilst the children rushed to the ice cream stall, eventually devouring the complete stock! Afternoon tea provided a most welcome rest from the heat and a chance to take the weight off those weary feet. Aspiring entrepreneurs in the Prep School ran stalls, some tested skills whilst others displayed the latest designer label outfits for bears. There was an invitation to throw foam pies or you could try the Year 3 Lucky Dip.
In addition, staff took part running stalls such as the Bottle Tombola and Guess the Name of the Football Bear, not to mention the Face Painters Extraordinaire and those dreaded car parking attendants who would not let you slip through without buying a programme.
Always a highlight of the school year, this year's PAA organised event proved no exception. |
